Autogenous vaccines are custom-made vaccines prepared with cultures of microorganisms (isolates / strains) taken from an affected herd or population.

Autogenous vaccines can be used when

• Commercial vaccines are not available or accessible
• Commercial vaccines have lost their efficacy
• Commercial vaccines are not cross-protective across disease-causing strains.

An autogenous vaccine can only be used on farms from which the microorganism was isolated, or, in the case of an epidemiological linkage between these farms (e.g. between brood stock, nursery and grow out farm).

Autogenous vaccines are regulated under the Animals and Birds Act and fall under "veterinary biologics".

Yes, autogenous vaccines are safe to use. Master seeds must satisfy identity, sterility and purity tests before being used in vaccines.

Rigorous process requirements stated by AVS and NParks must be followed during the manufacturing process. All adjuvants used must be approved by AVS or NParks.

All our vaccines undergo a 2-stage finished product testing regime and must show

and pass toxicity tests in targeted animals.

No, vaccinated livestock are safe for human consumption.

There is no withdrawal period after vaccination.
